Vincenzo Presta

Vincenzo Presta first began his studies in Clarinet at a very young age and in 1992, he graduated at the Conservatory Tito Schipa of Lecce. He participated in many national competitions of chamber music and in various specialization courses. Moving closer towards jazz, he extended his knowledge in this music genre by studying jazz saxophone with Maurizio Giammarco and Rosario Giuliani. He then graduated in Jazz Music in 1998 and obtained the 2nd cycle Academic Diploma in Music disciplines-Jazz Music Course in 2007 at the Niccolà Piccinni Conservatory of Bari.

Since 1998, he has participated in many competitions (“Massimo Urbani” Prize, International Contest “W il jazz”) and specialization courses (Roman Academy of Music, Terni in Jazz, Umbria Jazz Clinics 1998/2001); and he has attended seminars with musicians such as Giovanni Tommaso, Danilo Rea, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Enzo Pietropaoli, Fabio Zeppetella, Fabrizio Sferra, Daniele Scannapieco, Roberto Gatto, Dado Moroni, Salvatore Bonafede, Marco Tamburini, Jim Snidero and, in 2001, with the saxophone player George Garzone.

In the same year, he participated in the Umbria Jazz summer seminars, winning a scholarship awarded by the Berklee College of Boston. During the years, he performed in various ensembles with whom he participated in festivals and shows such as “Jazz Soul Taranto & Blues”, “Lanternanotte”, “Enojazzfestival”, “Jazz in Puglia” (2006 and 2009), “Foggia Jazz Festival”, “Mar del Jazz ”,“ Suonincava 2008 ”,“ Locomotive Jazz Festival ”,“ SALICE Jazz & Wine Festival”. He has also collaborated with musicians such as Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Di Sabatino, Ettore Fioravanti, Bebo Ferra, Paolo Fresu, Tom Kennedy, Ralph Alessi, Gegè Telesforo, Mario Rosini, Roy Paci, Fabio Morgera, Max Ionata, Kelly Joyce, Anne Ducros, Jazz Studio Orchestra, and Vince Mendoza; as an orchestra player he participated in RAI television programs, thanks to which he accompanied artists such as Cecilia Gasdia,

In 2008, (insert of “Jazz Music – January 2008”) he was inserted in the TOP JAZZ 2007 chart in the category of Instrumentalist of the Year-dance and in 2010 (insert of “Musica Jazz-January 2010”) in the TOP JAZZ 2009 chart in the category of Best New Talent. From November 2012 to June 2013, he cooperated with Maestro Angelo Nigro in the radio program Please talk to the driver, hosted by Flavio Insinna and broadcasted on RADIO2.

As a teacher he undertook teaching activities at L’Orchestrina (Lecce), Harmonium (Lecce), and at the Saint Louis College of Music.
