Born in Grosseto on the 21st of December 1979, he stared studying piano at a very young age. After obtaining a high school Diploma in artistic studies he moved to Rome to continue studying music, deepening his studies in jazz, improvisation and composition.
He won two scholarships at Saint Louis College of Music and obtained his diploma with the highest grades when evaluated by a commissions chaired by Enrico Pieranunzi, with whom he continued to study for a while. He attended the seminars of Siena Jazz, deepening his knowledge of playing in trio with Stefano Battaglia, Paolino dalla Porta and Fabrizio Sferra; also he attended the seminars of Italian and international musicians such as Jonh Taylor, Paul Motian, Jack De Jonhette, Marc Jonhson, Enrico Rava.
In 2004 his first CD of original composition was released by the Saint Louis Jazz Collection. “Light Dawn” – Simone Maggio Trio plus Javier Girotto special guest ”.
