Strengths
Three-year 1st cycle academic diploma (Bachelor level) that has its roots in jazz-blues and funk to explore the countless contaminations and affinities with Soul music, contemporary rock-blues, fusion, black music, neo-soul and pop music.
During the training course, the characteristics of one’s own personal style are developed to the maximum potential, hence advanced technique, creativity, rhythmic sense, improvisation, comping and stylistic soloing, in perfect balance between Rock, Jazz-blues and Popular Music.
The study of contemporary harmony reaches out to the most advanced arrangement techniques, taking care of professional pre-production on the computer, with sequencing and virtual instruments and the development of orchestral scores for recording sessions with “real” musicians.
Each graduate acquires full mastery of the most advanced softwares offered by the contemporary industry and refines his/her skills in the recording studio as a session musician.
The students’ best recording productions are published every year by Saint Louis recording labels.

At the end of the 1st Cycle Academic Course (Bachelor level), the student can continue his/her specialization studies in the 2nd Cycle Academic Courses (Master level, EQF 7) in:

STUDIO DRUMMING
Tutor: Cristiano Micalizzi
The drums in the recording studio. The course deals with different musical styles: rock, blues, R&B, funk, jazz, brazilian, afrocuban, fusion. For each style, different pieces are studied with the support of original bases and scores, giving students the opportunity to follow the performances in detail.

DRUMS TUNING
Tutor: Daniele Pomo
The importance of sound as a search for expression and personality through the tuning of the drums and the knowledge of drum heads and instrumentation.

DRUMS CIRCLE
Tutor: Giovanni Imparato
Inside logic power system, a technique decoded by Arthur Hull that consists in making people, who do not necessarily have musical experiences, but who find themselves holding any percussion instrument; the acuity of this technique exploits the immediate ability that percussion offers to “talk about oneself”. In the Drums Circle, the student or professional musician is stimulated to re-connect in an area of unconditional cognition

AFROCUBANìA
Tutor: Giovanni Imparato
A training course on percussion instruments of Afrocuban origin (congas or tumbadora, bongó, paila or timbales, batà, chequeré, güiro maracas, clave, bell or guatàca, framed drums, drums or trap drums) with the aid of singing in responsorial form, soloist and choir
