Dario Lapenna – Head of Jazz Guitar
Starting from rock-blues experiences, when he was 16 ye began teaching himself how to play jazz guitar. After studying arrangement at the Frosinone Conservatoire, he moved to Los Angeles for a year graduating at D. Grove Music Institute and playing at the same time with the USA ensemble of trumpet player Fabio Morgera.
He worked 3 years at Rai Tv as an orchestra guitarist. He collaborated with many jazz musicians such as : Dave Liebman, Steve Grossman, Bobby Watson, George Garzone, John Mosca, Massimo Urbani, Stefano Di Battista, Javier Girotto, Roberto Gatto, Fabrizio Sferra, Ettore Fioravanti, Nicola Stilo, Giancarlo Maurino, Joy Garrison. He has recorded 10 CDs with many artists, amongst whom: Maurizio Giammarco, Mia Martini, Stefano Sabatini, Riccardo Fassi e Flavio Boltro, Giampaolo Ascolese, Nicola Arigliano featuring Enrico Rava, Gianni Basso, Franco Cerri, Renato Sellani.
He participated in many important jazz events and undertook many tours in Italy and abroad, recording for the national Dane radio. Dario Lapenna is also a passionate teacher that has over 20 years teaching experience, having thought at the “Scuola popolare Testaccio”, “Ciak and since 1989 at “Saint Louis College of Music”.
