Starting from the current academic year 2018/19, the second level of Jazz and Popular Music, has been authorized by the Ministry of Education with Decree 2270 on September 6, 2018.

The Saint Louis, the only private institution in Italy authorized since 2012 for the awarding of the II level experimental academic diplomas, confirms itself today as the first institution of high level of private musical artistic education, authorized for the II level two-year regulations for all instruments at the address Jazz and Popular Music, the culmination of a tireless and constructive work of perfection has carried out with real passion since 1976.

Frequency: Two years

Requirements: First level three-year academic diploma or to be achieved by the February 2019 session (reserve the registration).

Auditions:

Two years of Jazz: Thursday, September 20th, 2018

– rehearse with the ensemble with four pieces of standard jazz (The Real Book 1982) chosen by the student

– must have proof of an ensemble with two pieces at first sight chosen by the commission among the known and / or little-known jazz standards.

– for pianists: a piano piece chosen by the student

– for guitarists: a solo guitar piece chosen by the student

– for singers: a song sung where the candidate is accompanied by piano or guitar

– practical test of instrument or song

– evaluation of any record publications

The ensemble rehearsals will be held with the Saint Louis rhythm section.

Two years of Popular Music: Thursday, September 20, 2018

– must have proof of an ensemble, three pieces chosen by the commission from a list proposed by the student who will have to bring the parts for the rhythm section (bass, drums, and piano or guitar)

– must have proof of an ensemble with two pieces at first sight chosen by the commission

– for pianists: a piano piece chosen by the student

– for guitarists: a solo guitar piece chosen by the student

– for singers: a song sung where the candidate is accompanied by piano or guitar

– practical test of instrument or song

– evaluation of any record publications

The two-year level two-year courses are built for each student, for the development of their artistic personality, is aimed at their artistic productions both record and concert.

Instrument: Each student with specialization will have 34 hours of individual lessons and will be able to choose whether to attend to one or two teachers every year, for stylistic improvement.

Ensemble: There are two types of ensembles, a permanent ensemble that rehearses all year that holds concerts in the clubs of Rome with the teacher as part of the band and a great training that concentrates the tests in one or two weeks full-immersion for concerts in Theaters and record productions.

Improvisation: The deepening of contemporary styles and languages, also experimental, not strictly related to tradition and with international artists and guests.

Composition: creative workshop aimed at the composition, elaboration, arrangement and production of an own original recording project

Production: each student will have access to the recording studio to produce his own artistic project, and have collaboration with specialists of the courses of voice and electronic music
