Antonio Solimene – Head of Ear Training, Big Band Director

Arranger, orchestra conductor, teacher. He is the Coordinator and teacher of the courses of Jazz Arrangement and Ear Training at Saint Louis College of Music, where he is also member of the Academic Board and part of evaluation and representation team at the AEC (European Association of Conservatoires) during the Pop and Jazz meetings (Jazz and Pop platforms.

Apart from teaching he is also an orchestra conductor. From 2008 he is the Director of the orchestra ensembles- Big Band and Combo- at Saint Louis. From 1993 he conducts the TMJB, with whom he held various performances in Italy (Perugia, “Umbria Jazz”, from 2003 to 2013), and abroad (Paris, “Le Petit Journal”; New York, “Teatro dell’ONU”). He also conducted the rhythmic-symphonic orchestra of Mediaset channel for Sony Music and the Bulgarian Symphonic Orchestra.

He made various CDs, the most representative being:
“Eneiro”, as composer and pianist for Ricordi;
“Napoli standard”, “Note autorizzate”, “Piedigrotta e dintorni”, as Director and arranger for TMJB editio of Music for Music;
“Live in studio” with the Saint Louis Big Band for “Jazz Collection”.
He collaborated with many musicians, such as: Stephane Grappelli, Lew Soloff, Gorge Masso, Maxime Saury, Paolo Fresu, Lucio Dalla, Stefano Bollani, Maria Pia De Vito, Pietro Condorelli, Rosario Giuliani, Javier Girotto, Daniele Scannapieco, Marcello Rosa.
